5 Last Marketing Moves of 2021

Welcome to my first and last blog of 2021. Maybe I'll get a few more in for 2022.

It's time to take one more look back to see how far you’ve come and how to improve for next year. These seem tedious, but giving a few minutes' thought to each of these could change your perspective for 2022. So while you're doing your morning feedings or checking fences this New Year's weekend, think about each of these and set aside a few minutes at the computer. You might be surprised what you find.

Forgive my list - I'm a list person. Anyone else? I'm not interested in making you read a lot of fluff to get the goods, so dive right in.

  1. Review performance.

    1. A few things to look at: ads, website, social media, emails, list growth, sales, new customers, customer retention.

    2. Download/print data where possible.

    3. Highlight key metrics, things that surprised you.

    4. Compare advertising with social media and website data to see if there is a correlated increase in traffic when ads were viewed. If not, critique your ad or placement and look at what can be improved.

  2. Repurpose successful content.

    1. Did you have an ad, social media post or email that was particularly successful? Use it again! Give it a refresh or simply just repost it. Use it in another space: if it was a social post, put it in your next print ad or turn it into a blog for your website.

  3. Research competitors’ performance.

    1. What are they doing that you should be? What are areas no one is particularly strong in and can you take advantage?

    2. Sometimes it’s your neighbor or a good friend, in that case, even better. Have a beer and commiserate about things that don't work or something that did.

  4. Reevaluate your goals.

    1. Even if you didn’t write them down, where did you hope to be at the end of this year? What did you do to get there or what could you have done to get further?

  5. Make 2022 the best year yet.

    1. Write down your goals.

    2. Keep the info you found for next year to compare to what you accomplished in 2022.
